The end… and the beginning!
I survived the training, got through the year intact (just!) and am now a qualified primary school teacher – arghhhh!!! Which means in theory I am able (and trusted) to be let loose with 30-odd children all on my own! With the added responsibility that they actually learn something during the 10 months they are in my classroom!
Classroom – therein lies the starting point. I have inherited a lovely airy space, complete with musty smells, unloved left-behind plimsols, a few resources and the legacy of a fabulously experienced teacher not to mention 5 years of dust. Lets hope I can fill the space as well as the expectations.
But its mine! Its a bit like having a new house to decorate, or a new phone to play with. I can do with this space exactly what I want (although doubt lovely head would appreciate a colourful repaint or more than blutack fixings on the walls). It’s a blank canvas for me to fill with great ideas for learning, organise and make look appealing and fun to the 27 lovely 8 year olds entering it at the beginning of September.
First job to clean out the dust and work out exactly what is there and what I need to get! I feel a visit to IKEA coming on!
Some pictures of my empty classroom, pre-cleaning and organising!
